Bayern Munich welcome back star wide-men Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery for today’s trip to Mainz.
Mainz beat Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena and also won this fixture last season, but manager Thomas Tuchel admits it will be difficult for his side to continue their good run of form against the reigning Bundesliga champions when they two teams lock horns once more.
Speaking of the return of Robben and Ribery, Tuchel said: “Nobody can defend against them with 100% assurance.
“We will see if they are decisive, but let's not forget that they also have good players like (Mario) Gomez, (Thomas) Muller and (Bastian) Schweinsteiger.
“But we would rather talk about our chances and not the dangers. Mainz is a club with courage and faith in its own ability.
“We have got to maintain possession, hold out well and remain compact. If we achieve that, then we have a chance.
“It will be a challenge, but nevertheless, it is one we want to master.”
Mainz’s most recent league outing ended in a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Cologne, while Bayern Munich romped to a 4-0 victory over Hoffenheim.
