Bayer Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes is determined to lead the team into the Champions League before he departs.
Heynckes has agreed to become the new manager of Bayern Munich in the summer but, for now, he is focused on ensuring second-placed Leverkusen do not relinquish that spot in the final seven games, with Hannover just five points behind and next employers Bayern two further back.
Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Kaiserslautern, he said: “I am going to be emotionally attached to the team and the club at Bayer until the end of the season, and be motivated until the very last day.
“We have the goal of direct entry into the Champions League and I don't wish for anything other than that.”
While Bayer Leverkusen head into this game on the back of a 2-0 win over FC Schalke, Kaiserslautern recorded a 1-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach last time out.
