Jupp Heynckes has confirmed he has opened talks about becoming the next Bayern Munich manager.

The 65-year-old has confirmed he will leave Bayer Leverkusen when his contract expires this summer, and following his announcement he was quickly linked with Munich.

Munich will be looking for a new boss when Louis van Gaal steps down at the end of the season and Heynckes has now revealed he has now spoken with senior officials at the Allianz Arena, but insists he has not yet determined if he will take the job.

He said: “I have not said yes and no negotiations have taken place with Bayern until now.”

Meanwhile, Leverkusen have announced that Robin Dutt will succeed Heynckes at BayArena this summer.

Dutt, who currently manages Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, has agreed a two-year contract that will begin on July 1.

And the 46-year-old said: “I look forward to the challenge of succeeding Heynckes, who has been outstanding. The team corresponds with my style of football.”
