Kaiserslautern coach Marco Kurz has called on the supporters to inspire his team to victory against Borussia Dormund today.
Die Roten Teufel have claimed some memorable home victories this season, beating the likes of Bayern Munich and FC Schalke 04 in front of raucous crowds at the Betzenberg.
And Kurz, whose side are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference, wants them to bring the same level of noise again when the current league leaders arrive this evening.
He said: “We are very proud of our fans because they can sense that we need their support now, in particular in a difficult phase.
“The people can sense that the team wants to win, but we are nevertheless responsible for ensuring we get the support for 90 minutes from the fans and that they push us forwards.
“Together with our fans, we want to reach our aim.”
Opposite number Jurgen Klopp knows what is awaiting his side, but insists Borussia Dortmund will ignore the hosts’ “12th man”.
He said: “We have experienced several hot matches this season and we will not let the hot atmosphere negatively affect us. We are travelling there to play football.”
While Kaiserslautern’s relegation worries deepened with a 3-2 defeat at TSG Hoffenheim last time out, Borussia Dortmund were held to a goalless draw by FC Schalke 04.
