St Pauli head to Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund today, full of confidence that they can claim a result.
‘The Pirates of the League’ are German football’s form team at the moment with three victories from their last five games, with the other two games ending in draws, and their latest success was a 1-0 derby victory over Hamburg in midweek.
And striker Gerald Asamoah, who scored the winning goal in that game, cannot wait to tackle runaway leaders Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.
He said: “I am still a Schalke fan and that makes the Dortmund game at least as emotional as the one against HSV for me.
“I know that the fans are going to insult me from start to finish, but I enjoy that. It's fantastic.
“I am really looking forward to playing Dortmund.”
While St Pauli claimed the derby spoils against Hamburg in midweek, Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Kaiserslautern.
