Borussia Dortmund’s director of sport Michael Zorc is not expecting the Bundesliga leaders to wrap up the title early.
Dortmund have dominated Germany’s top flight almost the entire season and are currently seven points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen with seven games remaining.
But, speaking ahead of the clash with third-place Hannover 96, who they have a 12-point lead over, Zorc insisted the team will not be clinching the crown in the next couple games.
He said: “I have won the title three times in my career - twice as a player and once as director of sport.
“Twice, we won it in the second half of the final game of the season and the other time was in the penultimate game of the season.
“We have never said that we are going to win the title with a 20-point advantage.”
The build-up to this week’s game has been overshadowed by a potential terrorist attack on the Westfalen Stadion.
A 25-year-old German man was arrested and explosives were found at both his home and near Dortmund’s stadium along with information indicating a plan to carry out an attack of the day of the Bundesliga match.
Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “In order to ensure a safe visit to Saturday's game for all fans, Borussia Dortmund will strengthen its security checks around the Westfalen Stadion, in concordance with the police.”
