Bayern Munich coach Luis Van Gaal claims the midweek international fixtures have been an unwanted distraction for his team this week.
Bayern entertain Hoffenheim today still smarting from last week’s defeat to Cologne, and Van Gaal admits they have been unable to go over that result because of players being away with their nations during the midweek raft of friendlies.
The Dutchman said: “It is bad because many of my players were away with their national teams and there is no decent way for us to analyse this defeat.”
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim coach Marco Pezzaiuoli has set his sights on adding to fifth-placed Bayern’s frustrations as they attempt to take something from the Allianz Arena.
Pezzaiuoli said: “We want to get points from Munich and frustrate FC Bayern.
“Bayern are under pressure. They must finish at least in the top two to fulfil their expectations.”
While Bayern Munich slumped to a 3-2 defeat at Cologne, TSG Hoffenheim edged FC Kaiserslautern 3-2 last time out.
