Star winger Arjen Robben will not be leaving Bayern Munich if they miss out on the Champions League, chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted.
Bayern have endured a disappointing Bundesliga campaign and are currently fourth in the table, two points behind Hannover 96 in the third and final qualifying spot.
That has led to the decision to part company with coach Louis van Gaal at the end of the season, but Rummenigge has no plans to allow Robben to follow his fellow Dutchman out of the Allianz Arena.
Speaking ahead of today’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach, Rummenigge told Bild: “We all want to play in the Champions League and must now do everything we can to still make it.
“But one thing is 100% certain and that is that Arjen Robben will be playing for FC Bayern next season, no matter what happens.”
While Bayern Munich head into this game on the back of a 2-1 victory at SC Freiburg prior to the international break, rock-bottom Borussia Monchengladbach are in desperate need of points following a 1-0 defeat to Kaiserslautern last time out.
