Bolton teenager Danny Ward has signed a three-year contract.
The 18-year-old forward has only made two substitute appearances for Wanderers so far, but is rated highly at the Reebok Stadium following a successful loan spell at Swindon last season.
Ward has been tipped to go out on loan again this season, with Championship side Coventry believed to be a possible destination.
And Bolton manager Owen Coyle expects the youngster to be in the first-team picture when he returns from a temporary switch.
He told the club’s official website: “I have tremendous belief in Danny but it’s fair to say that he needs to go and get some Championship experience.
“He was involved in our squad throughout pre-season and did ever so well but, with the players we have in front of him at the moment, it makes sense for him to go out on loan.
“If he goes out and gets some games then he will come back and be ready to push into our first-team.
“There have been numerous clubs throughout the Championship that have been after him, so it is likely that he will go out on loan in the next week or so.”
