Bolton have agreed to cancel the contract of defender Danny Shittu.
The 30-year-old Nigeria international joined Wanderers from Watford in 2008, with the fee believed to be around £2m, and played 12 times for the club that season.
But Shittu failed to make a single first-team appearance last season and, with only a year remaining on his deal, has been allowed to leave in search of first-team football.
He told skysports.com: "I believe quitting Bolton was the right step to take as I didn't have options to play at Bolton.
"I wish the club all the best in the future and now I have to find myself a new club.
"I am now reviewing my options and there are quite a few sides interested in me from Europe and the Middle East.
"Hopefully I can announce where my future lies shortly after I return from international duty."
