Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle is not expecting to lose star man Gary Cahill next month.
Centre-back Cahill has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top defensive players over the past couple of seasons, forcing him into the England setup.
And there has been much speculation that the 24-year-old could be on the brink of a move to one of Europe’s top clubs, which Chelsea the latest rumoured suitor, when the transfer window re-opens next mont.
But Coyle told the Sunday Times: “The key is keeping the group I’ve got, but if somebody said, ‘Here’s £30’, then it might be impossible.
“There’ll be a time some players outgrow Bolton. That’s a natural progression in football, there’s nothing wrong with that.
“If Gary continues to play out of his skin it wouldn’t surprise me if one of the elite clubs in England or Europe want him. But I don’t expect that to be in January.”
