Bolton have appealed against the red card shown to defender Gary Cahill during the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.
Centre-back Cahill was shown a straight red card by referee Stuart Atwell following a challenge from behind on Gunners forward Marouane Chamakh.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle was left raging about the decision and told the club’s official website following the game: “Now I felt that it was a free-kick because Gary had mistimed his challenge, but my initial reaction was that he was harshly dealt with.
“Perhaps it warranted a yellow card and I will look at it again but I do feel that we have been unlucky.”
If Wanderers’ appeal is unsuccessful, Cahill will miss the Premier League games against Aston Villa and Manchester United and the Carling Cup tie against Lancashire rivals Burnley.
