Bolton Wanderers boss blasts Carlos Vela's agent

Football News Staff - 31 Jan 2011
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has criticised the agent of Arsenal forward Carlos Vela.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been keen to let Vela leave the Emirates Stadium on loan to gain more first-team experience, and Bolton counterpart Coyle had been keen to bring the xx-year-old to the Reebok Stadium.

But the 21-year-old forward decided against a move to Wanderers, who landed Jack Wilshere in a similar arrangement last season, and instead opted for a temporary switch to West Brom, leaving Coyle disappointed.

The Scot said: “The player's representative sent me a list of figures he wanted added on to what was agreed.

“What it would have cost would have been like the salary of a top, top Premier League player. He's very good but he's not at that level.

“We have dealt with Arsenal before over Jack (Wilshere) and I felt when we had agreed everything with them, our chat with the representative was going to be about football, but there was a fee which was totally ridiculous.”
