Blackpool’s deadline-day move for FC Twente midfielder David Carney has been cleared by the Premier League.

The Australia international has joined for an undisclosed fee, penning a one-year contract with an option for further 12 months.

Club secretary Matt Williams told the Seasiders’ official website: “We got the emails back from FC Twente just before six so it was a mad dash to get them printed off and faxed over to the FA and Premier League.

“Fortunately the confirmation came through on Wednesday morning and I was delighted to tell (Ian Holloway and Carney) that the move had been given the green light.”
