Charlie Adam reaffirms Blackpool commitment

Football News Staff - 1 Feb 2011
Blackpool captain Charlie Adam insists he is still committed to the club despite seeing his dreams of a big move come to nothing on Monday.

Liverpool had been keen to land the Scotland international throughout the January transfer window but failed to meet the Seasiders' asking price, reportedly set at £14m.

And it later emerged that Tottenham had been successful with a late bid for the 25-year-old midfielder only for time to run out as the two club’s tried to push through the deal.

Yet despite his disappointment, Adam maintains he will do all he can to help Blackpool defy the pre-season odds to secure Premier League football for another season.

The former Rangers man said: “It has been a crazy day.

“I'm still a Blackpool player and I will do my best to help the club achieve its highest possible league finish.”

While the drama unfolded surrounding the future of Adam, Seasiders manager Ian Holloway was hard at work adding four new players to his squad.

Holloway paid an undisclosed fee to land Sunderland winger Andy Reid on a deal until the end of the season, while also wrapping up loan moves for Rangers forward James Beattie, Southampton winger Jason Puncheon and Zenit St Petersburg striker Sergei Kornilenko.
