Blackpool will take time over Francis Jeffers decision

Football News Staff - 21 Jul 2010

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway will not rush into a decision over former Arsenal and Everton striker Francis Jeffers.

The 29-year-old is currently on trial with the Premier League newcomers following his release from Sheffield Wednesday, and appeared in Tuesday night’s friendly at Accrington.

Boss Holloway told Sky Sports News: “He’s only been with us for two days.

“Obviously he’s been quality in the past, but things didn’t work out for him last year. We’ve given him a chance to show me what he can do.”

The Seasiders chief is also happy with the progress of another trialist, French midfielder Malaury Martin.

Holloway added: “It’s very difficult. Obviously my French isn’t very good as I didn’t really do very well in French in school.

“His English is much better than my French and he’s having to learn what I’m saying and I’m not sure if he’s getting much of it.

“He played in a little role (against Accrington) and was so disciplined, but I didn’t want him to be so disciplined. He moved forward a little bit and showed all sorts of the quality that I know he’s got.”
