Blackpool have completed the surprise signing of Derby striker Luke Varney on a season-long loan.
The Seasiders have an option to make the 27-year-old’s move permanent and he could now make his debut against Fulham this weekend.
Boss Ian Holloway said: “He is a great lad, he has got some pace and I think he’ll play well in a 4-3-3 formation.”
Varney has failed to live up to the hype in the early stages of his career at Crewe, but Holloway is confident the former Crewe, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday forward can shine at Bloomfield Road.
“I think he will just slot straight in to our system and hopefully I can get him going again,” the Seasiders boss added.
“He is a fantastic lad off the field and even at Sheffield Wednesday last season he got 11 goals for them.”
