Blackpool announce resignation of chairman Karl Oyston

Football News Staff - 18 Aug 2010

Karl Oyston has quit his role as Blackpool chairman with immediate effect.

The 43-year-old had been in the role since 1999 but stepped down because he has grown increasingly frustrated with the way some agents work in the Premier League.

However, Oyston will remain acting chief executive until the end of the season, or until a new chairman is appointed.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “During this time he will continue to work closely with the manager, Ian Holloway, on player recruitment and to oversee the continued development of the stadium.

“The club would like to emphasise that there will be no interruption in the recruitment of players of the work required on the stadium.”
