Alan Shearer rules out taking Blackburn job

Football News Staff - 19 Dec 2010
Former Blackburn Rovers striker Alan Shearer insists he will not be the club’s next manager.

Rovers sacked Sam Allardyce earlier this week and placed first-team coach Steve Kean in charge on a temporary basis.

Shearer, who helped fire the Ewood Park outfit to the Premier League title 15 years ago, was quickly made one of the favourites to take the job, which would be his second stint in management following a brief spell with Newcastle United a couple of years ago.

But, during an appearance on BBC’s ‘Match of the Day’, Shearer was asked about the possibility of him succeeding Allardyce and the former England man replied: “Save your money”.
