Birmingham have appointed Peter Grant as their new first-team coach following the departure of Roy Aitken.
Aitken left Blues earlier this month to join David O’Leary at Al Ahli, and boss Alex McLeish has moved quickly to land the former Norwich boss, who has also had coaching spells at Celtic, Bournemouth, West Brom and West Ham.
McLeish told Blues’ official website: “I’ve known Peter a long time. He was an adversary of mine in my Aberdeen playing days, when he was a stalwart for Glasgow Celtic.
“He’s a competitive man who has been brought up in a winner’s environment due to the traditions of Celtic.
“He has successfully made the transition into becoming a coach and my diligence shows me he is the right man for the job.
“His personality is akin to that of the man we have just lost, Roy Aitken, and that will be a great asset to us.”
