Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has dismissed reports linking him with a move for William Gallas.
France international Gallas has been without a club since leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, but McLeish believes he has enough quality at the back.
When asked about the possibility of bringing Gallas to St Andrews, the Scot told Sky Sports News: “No, definitely not.
“I have got two young centre-halves and it’s not the right move for me. I need to spend the club’s money on the other positions that we really need to improve.”
And McLeish is hoping to add another couple of new faces to his squad this month.
He added: “We are hoping to do two or three (more deals) before the deadline comes. But if you are asking whether people will be in place for next Saturday, then maybe not, we might have to go with the group we have got.”
