Alex McLeish wants new Sebastian Larsson deal

Football News Staff - 27 Sep 2010

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish hopes Sebastian Larsson will soon pen a new contract with Blues.

The Swedish midfielder, who initially joined on loan from Arsenal in 2006, is in the final year of his deal with the St Andrews club and began talks over new terms earlier this month.

The two parties have yet to reach an agreement but boss McLeish, who committed his own future to Blues recently, hopes a deal can soon be made with the 25-year-old.

The former Rangers and Scotland chief said: “There is nothing doing at the moment with Seb’s contract.

“We were hopeful we could get something done, but it is up to Seb. He is now in a good position for himself if he wants to become a Bosman (free transfer).

“But we will keep trying to entice him.”
