Birmingham boss Alex McLeish hopes to sign his new contract next week.
McLeish, who has 12 months left on his current deal, has been in talks over an extension for some time, but he hopes to finally put pen-to-paper when the club return from their Far East tour.
The Scot told the Birmingham Mail: “The logistics at the moment, as we’re here in China, means we can’t get it done straight away. But I know the parameters and we’re going to try and get it nailed next week.
“We’re due back at St Andrews on Thursday and I will be meeting my lawyer that day and hopefully we will see Peter (Pannu) on Friday, if Peter’s back in England by that time.”
