Birmingham manager Alex McLeish insists he makes the decisions when it comes to signing players.
Former football consultant Sammy Yu, who quit Blues last weekend, is believed to have set up a deal to sign Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli in the summer, but McLeish was not interested in the now Wigan player.
And while admitting he will listen to advice offered when it comes to bringing in players, McLeish insists he must have the final word on which players make the move to St Andrew’s.
He said: “I think Boselli is a good player, but I don’t see him for our style.
“It will be me that carries the can if results don’t go for us, so it would be crazy for me not to choose the players.
“You can see by the fact we didn’t sign Boselli that the signings are down to the manager, that is the way we go forward.
“I don’t mind some input, but as a custodian of the club on the football side I had to make sure that if someone was coming in it was the right deal for the club.
“There were many interesting names, but one or two I didn’t want to bring. It was as simple as that.”
