Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner is poised to offer Gerard Houllier the manager’s job, according to Sky Sports News.
The former Liverpool boss, in England for Jamie Carragher’s testimonial, refused to confirm reports he was in the running for the job at the weekend.
But Sky Sports News are reporting the Frenchman could be unveiled as Martin O’Neill’s successor in the next 48 hours after impressing the Villa board during an interview.
O’Neill quit in the week before the Premier League season kicked off and caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald has guided the club to two wins in three games, but the club are out of the Europa League.
