Gael Clichy rules out move to Italy

Football News Staff - 16 Nov 2010
Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy is not targeting a move to Italian football, his agent has insisted.

Clichy has become the first-choice left-back for the Gunners since Ashley Cole departed for London rivals Chelsea in 2006, making 236 appearances for the Emirates Stadium outfit.

The 25-year-old has now been linked with a switch to Juventus, but representative Ivan Le Mee insists the Frenchman is happy with life in London and has no desire to move on.

Le Mee told calciomercato.com: “His relationship with Arsenal and (manager Arsene) Wenger are great. I don’t understand where all these rumours have come from.

“Also, his contract expires in June 2012 so it wouldn’t make sense to force the issue now.

“Gael is doing very well, playing for his national team and in the Premier League he’s now a certain starter.”

However, Le Mee did add: “There will be a time for him to go to Italy.”
