Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been ruled out for six weeks with a dislocated finger.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury during the midweek Champions League defeat to Barcelona and had to be replaced by Manuel Almunia at the Camp Nou.
Szczesny now joins Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone on the sidelines so, with Manuel Almunia the only senior goalkeeper available, manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to receive the green light to make a loan signing.
The Frenchman told the Gunners’ official website: “We need now an experienced goalkeeper as cover for Almunia because Mannone is out for six weeks so we cannot call on him.
“Mannone is here at the training ground having treatment, but he cannot play for the next six weeks. We can call him back (from his loan spell at Hull City), but he is not available.
“We have Wojciech out - in my opinion for six weeks - and we have Fabianski out for the rest of the season, so we absolutely need some cover in goal.”
